Course Offerings

Spanish for Construction

Lakeshore HBA, in partnership with LAUP (Latin Americans United for Progress), is offering a new, annual course, teaching construction Spanish through a customized curriculum- covering the most common words and phrases used on a construction jobsite. Communicating with a workforce that is ~31% Spanish speaking can be difficult and creates barriers in training, safety practices and advancement for these employees.
Students will learn reading, writing, listening and speaking skills to communicate more effectively with team members in Spanish in areas of safety, work instruction, tools, and basic conversation.

There will also be opportunities to discuss cross-cultural questions related to effective teamwork and communication.

This introductory-level Spanish course is intended for those who speak little to no Spanish, and is open to anyone looking to engage more effectively with their Spanish speaking team members.

Lessons in Leadership Courses

How do business owners become and retain better leaders? By offering the right education and opportunities for professional development not only to their management teams but as business owners, developing their own unique leadership style.

This course was specifically designed for Lakeshore HBA business owners or those in management positions who are looking to become more impactful, effective leaders.

Lessons in Leadership

Many project managers, superintendents and site supervisors start out as laborers so when they are moved into management positions, there is not adequate training to equip them for their new role. Managing teams, conflict resolution, time management and communication strategies must be intentionally built into your workforce. Lakeshore HBA is excited to offer business owners an opportunity to equip management teams, or those who will be moved into management, and provide education that will build better leaders.

This course is designed to better equip employees currently in management positions (Project Mangers, Superintendents, Project Leads), or those who will be moving into management.

"The teacher, Forrest, is a fantastic teacher and does a really good job keeping everyone engaged for the entire class. He had great lessons in leadership that he touched on and at the end of each class he brought in someone from a different line of work to speak on how leadership shaped their career.

He touched on different types of leadership and did a great job on how we could apply that to our own careers. I would highly recommend it to anyone who might be interested in growing their leadership skills."
